Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

It is a federal law in the United States that establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and youth employment standards affecting employees in the private sector and in Federal, State, and local governments. The FLSA also prohibits employment of minors in "oppressive child labor." The Act is administered by the Wage and Hour Division of the United States Department of Labor.
