The Center for Effective Organizations' (CEO) fifth study of human resources in large organizations is Achieving Excellence in Human Resources Management: An Assessment of Human Resource Functions. This book connects data from CEO's earlier research to data acquired in 2007—a total of 12 years of data—and is the only long-term analysis of its kind. This project, like CEO's past studies, looks at how the HR function is changing and how effective it is. Edward E. Lawler III and John W. Boudreau are particularly interested in whether HR is becoming into a strategic partner.
They also look at how businesses might better manage their people resources. The findings reveal some significant shifts and point to what HR must do to remain effective in the years ahead. The essay identifies excellent organizational designs and best practices. This is a must-read for Human Resource Management scholars and practitioners.
Professor and Research Director at the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business and Center for Effective Organizations, John W. Boudreau, Ph.D., is known around the world for groundbreaking research on the link between superior human capital, talent, and long-term competitive advantage. Dr. Boudreau works with companies all over the world to help them optimize their employees' effectiveness by identifying the particular strategic bottom-line impact of superior people and human capital strategies.
